Being Kind to Yourself
As students, a lot of times we think that just because we didn't make that grade or weren't elected to that E-board that we are somehow less valuable than someone who did. The truth of the matter is, as a child of God, you were bought with a high price, making you priceless. If Christ thought so much of us, even in our sin, to die for us, how can we not think that way of ourselves?
Not only that, the Word commands us to love our neighbor as ourselves (Matthew 22:39). I see a word hidden in that scripture, manifest. We manifest the love that we have for ourselves onto those around us. So in order to love others properly, we must first love ourselves properly.
While we should always strive to be a good steward of the time, talent, and treasures that the Creator has given us, let us always remember to love and chase after the Creator, not the creations.
At the end of the day, we must remember that our worth is not found in what people say or think about us, our success, or our money, but our worth and identity is found in God. After all, He is the one who created us.
Some things God says about us:
We are "fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14)."
We are "made in His own image (Genesis 1:27)."
We are "the head and not the tail, above and not beneath (Deuteronomy 28:13)."
We are "set free from sin (Romans 6:18)."
We are "free from condemnation through Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1)."
We are "more than conquerors (Romans 8:37)!"
Sincerely Yours,
Kamille
