Being a Christian in College

Welcome!
This is my first blog post! I am dedicating this blog to all things Christian, college, poetry, traveling, and pretty much everything I feel led to share! I'm so excited to begin this journey! Through sharing, I hope to bring others to Christ and spiritual wisdom.

Being a Christian in college is difficult, yet fulfilling. At this transition point of our lives, most college students are trying to figure themselves out and figure out what to do next. Having found identity in Christ, it makes this transition much smoother. Also, being on a college campus allows me to explore more of humankind. College campuses are breeding grounds for almost every social group. So as you can imagine, you don't have to be at a faith-based institution to find a faith-based group around you. God's people are everywhere! That being said, a college campus is also the perfect place to share the Gospel. When people are trying to discover themselves, we often fall into traps of unhealthy habits and build our lifestyles around those habits. Instead, being a Christian, we have found our identity and can guide others to theirs.
However, it is not easy! Temptation is everywhere! Sin looks most attractive on a college campus, because, just like they're other Christians, they're other people sinning too. It becomes easy to fall back into the same trap of sinning because "it's what everybody is doing." But, we're not like everybody. We're all born into sin, but that does not mean we have to stay there. This is where conviction comes into play. When the Holy Spirit lives in you, God the Spirit is able to convict you of your behavior, leading to repentance and a renewed lifestyle. What better time to repent and change your path than in college?
There is so much growing that occurs in college and growing in Christ is the best type. He is always seeking to have relationship with us. Using our institution and the people around us, God will reveal Himself and its up to us to decide to take up our cross and walk with Him. I did. I promise once you do, even in the midst of temptation, you won't want to return to your former self.
